Howard County Striders, 8-Week Training Program. Registration opens June 12 for this 8 week training program designed to help runners reach the finish line. Runners should be able to run 3 miles before starting the program. Program meets weekly and includes a variety of running techniques improve performance.

Welcome to the heart of Columbia, where the pulse of the city meets the rhythm of running shoes hitting the pavement. The Columbia Classic 10K is not just a test of physical endurance, it's a celebration of community, culture, and the unique beauty that defines this remarkable city. Lace up your running shoes and join us for a race through the scenic landscapes and charming neighborhoods surrounding downtown Columbia, MD. ​

Registration transfers are not permitted to other RIVAL race events. Race organizers reserve the right to close registration due to capacity limits. Race organizers reserve the right to delay or cancel event due to extreme weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Pets, baby joggers/strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and any other non-official wheeled vehicles are prohibited.

VENUE

The race will start and finish on top of the Wincopin Parking Garage (open area along side Little Patuxent Pkwy). The start/finish line, packet pick up and post race will take place in this space. There is NO athlete parking in this area. Parking is available on lower level (entrance on lake side). To view a map of the venue, click HERE.

PARKING

Race parking will be in all public parking spaces in and around the race venue. Additional parking is available in the Maple Parking garage at the Columbia Mall (directly across the street from the start/finish line). There is NO RACE PARKING permitted in Whole Foods parking lot and Merriweather Lakehouse Parking garage.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

6:30 AM - Packet Pick-Up Opens

8:00 AM - Mass Start

9:30 AM - Awards presentation (estimate)

 

PACKET PICK-UP

Registered participants are required to pick up their packet before the start of the race. This includes getting your bib, timing chip and shirt. Packet pick up will be on race day only.

6:30 - 8:00 AM at race venue

BIB TRANSFERS & DEFERRAL

Allowing a non-registered runner to use your bib is NOT PERMITTED. 

Runners may elect to defer their race entry to the following year's race. To defer your entry, click HERE.

RUN COURSE

The 10K course starts & finishes in downtown Columbia and takes runners around the Columbia mall and through the surrounding neighborhoods. The entire run course is on paved roadway. All runners must finish the race by 10:00 AM.

 

Please note that this event is considered a running race not a walking event.

WATER STATIONS 

There will be two water stations on the course (mile 2.2 and 4.4). 

BATHROOMS

Porta-potties will be stationed at the start/finish line. There are no bathrooms on the run course.

PARTICIPANT SHIRT & FINISHER MEDAL

Register by Sept 11 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Participants will receive the shirt size they selected at online registration. Shirt exchanges can be completed at the conclusion of the race at the check-in tents. All finishers will receive a medal at the finisher line. ​

TIMING & RESULTS

This race will be using bib tag timing. Your timing chip will be affixed to the back side of your bib number. Please do not remove your timing chip. Results will be posted directly online in real time. Finishers can use their smart phone to access their individual results by viewing the RESULTS webpage at the conclusion of their race.

AWARDS

Awards will be given to following categories:

Overall Male - Top 5

Overall Female - Top 5

Age Group - Top 3 (male, female & non-binary) 7-8, 9-10, 11-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39,

40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89

Participants must accept their award in-person at the conclusion of the race. 

Awards will NOT be mailed to participants. Friends of runners may accept an award on your behalf.
